TDY for 2 weeks. Don’t need the hotel. But I’m wondering if I pocket that Per diem amount along with the meal Per diem?
Housing per diem. Do I keep it if I stay with a friend?

You’ll get the meal per diem I believe, but you won’t pocket the hotel per diem on a TDY. If it was a PCS then yes you would pocket that extra money, but not for TDY.
Lodging allowance is paid based on actual cost. If you pay nothing, JTR states you are not reimbursed. Hence the allowed versus actual when using lodging calculator in DTS.
You will have to change it in DTS to state that you stayed with a friend. It’s call fraud if you don’t
Even if you don’t “need” a hotel you should stay there anyway if you care about accumulating reward points. Just make sure you always book with the same system (Hilton, Marriott, etc)
