So I joined the ARNG and will be leaving for BCT on September 2nd. I've decided that I wanna add my little brother as my dependent for the BAH and my mom is fine with it, as I'll be able to send them more money while I'm away for those 7 months. My recruiter hasn't responded to me about what I need so is it possible if I can do it on my own? What documents must I provide and to what website should I send the copies to? Is my recruiter the only one that can help me or is there a phone number I can call for more info? (I'm in NY) Am I doing this too late or is there enough time? Also while I was at my last RSP Drill, we had 2 blue sheets handed to us and while filling them out, one of the questions was if I had any dependents and I circled 'No' before really thinking about it (As I pay for rent, food, + other utility bills).. is there anyway to change that?

You can’t add him as a dependent if you aren’t the legal guardian.
Doesn’t work like you think. You can’t unless you adopt him. Or try the secondary dependent but that takes about a year of evidence before you’d likely have any chance. And as guard it’s not worth the hassle.
