• My wife and I are both active duty military living in Virginia. We are both Florida residents.

    • Our primary residence is in VA – mortgaged single family home. We have been stationed here for 10 years and likely for at least 4 more. Intend to stay in VA after military service concludes.

    • We own real property in FL – no mortgage.

    • We have life insurance, savings, brokerage, and retirement accounts. Also, personally owned assets in both states.

    • We have no children. Beneficiaries would be siblings and their children who live in Florida and Wisconsin.

    • Our current wills were written prior to acquiring these assets in both states. They were written by military attorneys. We want to update our wills and create trusts for beneficiaries.

    • I don't have confidence in a military attorney creating these documents since they are not estate specialists and due to the complexity.

Should we seek an attorney in FL, VA, or both? Are there particular things we should ask attorneys to determine their ability to handle the compexity appropriately? Aside from wills/trusts, are there other documents we should consider?

    Thanks for your time!

Anyone have experience creating new wills and trusts VA/FL
