Prior to 2008 looks different than post 2008. Quantitative easing and virtually free money has sent the market flying up for the last 15 years. Will that continue or explode? Who knows…

    2. Wow what a great post ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)

Bears are actually so regarded that they’ll look at this as proof of the end.

I understand being bearish for periods of time. Right now, being a bear isn’t the most regarded position ever for example. And I understand being bearish about individual companies.

But basing your investment thesis on the idea that the market will go down, and thinking that you’re smarter than the guy who parks his investment in the snp. That’s next level.

If you bought the top right before the selloff of the Great Depression, it took 50 years for you to break even. But yep. Only up. Lol

Damn 1999 – 2013 was pretty much a lost decade for equities. Thanks a lot Bush admin.

This was the chart before the Black Plague reset global financial markets in the 14th century

    7. oh, oh, the zoom out picture is coming out. You’ll know a crash is coming when they start bring this out. Hold onto your butt. It’s going to be a big one.

You realize that’s the best 30 stocks measured by index in America and if one does poorly they get replaced

Many stocks falls never to rise again

That specific index and a couple others will always go up over the long term unless an ELE happens in which case

      Doesn’t matter

    9. Now show Japan, emerging markets, or even total world index ex USA. Stonks go up until they don’t. Then central banks print. Then stonks go up some more until they don’t again. Then…?

That is just proof that the purchasing power of your currency is going down.

If you buy index fund and you don’t need to access the cash for a long time.

2015-2017 was the era of heighten threats of trade war with China I believe. Started investing in that time and it sure brought a lot of volatility to my portfolio

All this makes me think of is how the dow nearly halved in the 07 recession, what a fucking insane buying oppurtunity.

Why is it always the Dow it’s only 30 stocks weighted in an arbitrary way. This criticism does not matter so don’t listen to anything I say. Still, just use s&p 500. K srry for being mean.

The component of the dow changes over time so this is not a proof at all. Most dow companies during the 40s doesnt exist now
