Two questions, spouse is active duty E-4 in Louisiana, we’re getting divorced, no children involved. When the divorce is granted I assume he’ll stop having to pay me BAH, but will he also still get the BAH? Like by not reporting it to DEERS immediately or whatever. Also, he’s only been in for 3 years, so after the divorce I believe my Tricare stops immediately? (correct me if I’m wrong please). I’ve also read something where you still have 90 days to make changes or update? I also read that you can apply for chcbp but you have to pay, does anyone know the price? I’m literally just going along with this, no one has told me anything about how this works.

    1. Once he removes you from DEERS he will stop getting BAH and you will lose your Tricare. I think (don’t quote me) that there’s a 90 day period before you’re cut off from Tricare but I could very well be wrong. It’s been 9 years since I got divorced and kicked my ex off DEERS. I had kids so kept the BAH though.

    2. He loses eligibility for BAH with dependents when you get divorced. Whether he gets BAH without dependents depends on his specific situation and location.

Your Tricare eligibility ends when you divorce. You can purchase Temporary coverage through the Continued Health Care Benefit Program if you want. https://tricare.mil/LifeEvents/Divorce
