Getting lots of conflicting information on here for the waived fee. Should only my husband (active duty SM) apply and add me as an authorized user? Should I apply for my own card and have him add me onto his account?

    1. The servicemember can open an account. The account comes with one card, tied to that account. He can also add you as an authorized user, ie two cards, one account. Only a few of the benefits double up, you’ll have to check Amex’s site to see which ones. Two cards, one account, one bill.

As a spouse you can also sign up for your own account and have the fee waived. Now you have two accounts, two cards, two bills. You will also get double the benefits (ie, 2 yearly airline credits, 2 FHR booking credits, etc etc).

You can even open up two accounts and add each other as authorized users. 2 accounts, 4 cards, 2 bills. Not much point to this unless you need help hitting the signup bonus.
