Hello!

My wife and I moved from a state with state taxes to Washington state (no state taxes) for her to begin her active duty and established Washington as our State of Legal Residency. Her home of record is the state with state taxes.

Since our State of Legal Residency is now Washington, we have not had to pay state taxes. Since then, she has accepted a job back in the state we came from (with orders). It is my understanding that as long as we maintain Washington as our State of Legal Residence, we will not have to pay state taxes when we move there due to the SMCRA and MSRRA.

Do we need to do anything extra to maintain our legal residence in Washington?

Moving from Washington State to state with income tax, how to handle state taxes?
