I’m going to be stationed in the UK in a few months, and I have questions regarding taxes.

    Specifically:

    • Will I still have state taxes withheld on my paychecks?

    • How much different will filing taxes be? I usually use TurboTax. Will there be additional questions I need to answer?

Any other advice around income taxes and tax filing would be appreciated.

How do taxes work if I’m stationed OCONUS?

Yes, assuming that the state you’re a resident of still assesses an income tax (for example, California does not tax military income for CA residents stationed outside the state).

      > How much different will filing taxes be?

No different at all with respect to you being in the UK. You may have unreimbursed moving expenses that you can include, but that’s not a given, and not specifically related to you being in the UK. You can get an automatic 2-month extension for filing your tax return, but I doubt there is any benefit to doing that versus filing by 15 Apr.

Strongly recommend against using TurboTax, because that company is deceitful. I personally use FreeTaxUSA, and have been quite satisfied with their performance for the past few years.
