Applying to Covered California while one person is eligible for employer sponsored insurance

I’m currently seeking coverage for my husband who is unemployed and has been on his parent’s insurance until this month, when he turned 26. It would be more convenient for both of us to be under the same insurance (Kaiser) as this is our closest hospital to home. (My current pcp under my ESI is 45 minutes away)

However, I did get a notice as I was applying for the two of us that I will not qualify for discounts. I continued with the application expecting to get an updated price without the discount- but it carried me all the way to the “make your first payment” page without changing the price.

Now I’m terrified that they are going to charge me the higher cost retroactively once everything goes through- and I’ll be stuck with an insurance plan I cannot afford.

I don’t understand how any of this works. HELP.
