Hello all, I am currently in AFROTC entering my second year, and I am trying to compete for a pilot slot in the future. I want to plan my career in the military early in terms of finances and be on top of everything as soon as I commission. My goal more than anything is to fatFIRE after the military, be retired at a relatively young age (late 40s-early 50s) so I am around for my future family and can pursue my hobbies. Should I get a pilot slot, I believe I will have three options, 1. Look for a guard unit before UPT and serve on the guard reserves and simultaneously work towards the airlines 2. Serve my ten year ADSC and then go for the airlines 3. Do the full 20, collect pension and then airlines. I know it is still very early in my military journey, but what would be the best option of the three to maximize my long-term financial gain?
