Hi. My wife was in a minor car accident a couple months ago. She was in her semi-truck working for her company when it happened. She was at fault. Nobody was hurt. She just got a letter from Optum stating that they provide subrogation to auto owners' ins company. It says and I quote, "We understand the above-referenced insured may have experienced damages as a result of your negligence. The letter than asks for property insurance information. I have never received a letter like this before. What are your thoughts on this letter? Should I call them and have a discussion. Is this better handled by an attorney? Thank you for your time.

    1. Provide the letter to insurance carrier that underwrites the commercial vehicle. They will investigate and handle the rest

    2. If she was at fault it is very common. Just pass it off to her insurance. The will provide a lawyer if needed.
