A person driving a Uhaul clipped my parked car while making a turn a few weeks ago, causing damage including denting the side panel in such a way that it scrapes the tire when I turn the wheel. They left a note with their USAA insurance number. I filed a claim that day, but USAA has been dragging their heels on figuring out whether the driver's coverage means they need to pay out what with it being a rented vehicle. I don't know what size truck they were using. The insurance is currently reviewing the rental agreement.

My question is, what should I do next if USAA refuses to pay out the claim? Are there magic words that would light a fire under their ass? Should I call Uhaul and see what they have to say? This has already been a cluster and wouldn't have moved at all without my pestering, and i just don't want them to deny a valid claim and cause my insurance premiumsto go up if I must go through my own insurance.

There’s no magic words to force a coverage investigation.

If you want your vehicle repaired sooner, file a claim with your own carrier.

    2. What State? Many states Uhaul offers the state minimum liability allowed by the state which could be as low as $5,000.

Many states also prohibit insurance from raising your rates due to a not at fault collision.
