As the title says. Bout 3 years ago I started playing with options and eventually lost everything I saved my first 3 years out of college.

As you can see I got a nice lil pump then reality came in and clapped me. Fuck it was addicting to be holding large positions overnight and hoping for a pump (or dump if I had puts).

I haven’t done options (gambled) in a few months and I can navigate life a lot more stress and anxiety free. Some nights couldn’t even sleep because I’d be holding 10K position overnight on a weekly contract. Honestly feels good bout telling someone bout my monster losses cuz at times I felt like my life was over and didn’t want to proceed. But as time went on and I stopped playing options I figured out money can be made back and it’s not an end all.

Anyways I saved a few bucks in the few months I haven’t gambled and feel this itch I can’t scratch 😩

With that being said, ima make all of this money I lost back 😡

    1. I’m eating the same crow and (trying to) accept the same revelations.

Money ain’t everything. You’ll make more. And you’ll turn that more into WAY more after learning this lesson

I think the chart is inverted ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4258)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4258)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4258) I thought stocks only go up ![img](emote|t5_2th52|31225)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31225)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31225)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31226)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31226)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31226)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31226)

    3. I started investing/trading in stock market 3 months back as a college student too. Till now I have 10% positive gain.

Should I leave now before I start losing like this ? ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

    4. If you’re going to gamble on options with 40k you need to be doing 3-6 months minimum or better yet 1+ years (LEAPS). Day or week expiration is just asking for trouble, good luck bouncing back though man.

      Hey, sorry for that.
I really hope you can leave your phone for a while and trading too. I hope you have some friends and family to talk about it.

Go out, focus on your work, get some fresh air and start saving again. I really hope you can learn from this mistake and continue on.

And if you have any options going on, just try to close them with the less money loss, it doesn’t worth keep loosing money at this time.

      Wish you the best.

I held 100k positions overnight, and proceeded to lose it on Dell ER in May if that makes you feel better. However I do have a good job and a paid off house so it’s okay

Have you tried adding more to reset it? Most people give up right before striking gold. Why would you think differently?

This is pretty good actually. Most regards would have lost it in a few weeks.

There are support groups, who can help you dealing with that itch. You don´t want to get into a situation again, where you think, your life is over. You want to make that money back? Put yours out of reach for gambling.

Thus said: You made it out. Congratulations!

I lost $18k in one day back in 2021 gm e fiasco. I was new to options at the time. Took a break from market for 2 years straight lol

    11. It’s pretty insane that you can see all the intraday gains. And then the over night holds are just a bleed fest. I wish the best for you my dude. Thanks for sharing. And just make sure you’re in a routine and disciplined lifestyle before you ever go back into options.

There’s this really cool thing called a stop loss . It prevents this from happening .

      Stop gambling, start investing.
Proper investing should never be stressful. It takes some effort with the research and thinking about the investment strategy, but once that is done, things should go smoothly.
Or, if even that is too much of a chore, just put your money in a cheap and diversified index fund (and keep doing it consistently for years to come) and call it a day.

    14. I just read through all the comments thus far and I cracked up laughing at a lot of em. Good shit guys I assure you I feel fullly endorsed being a regard
