I was driving my mom’s car in the interstate. I was in the city limits of a small town. The speed limit is 70, so everyone is zipping by. It was late at night and I was the only driver, there are no lights in this one little stretch, so it’s very dark. All of a sudden, I see a massive hazard in the middle of the road, it looked like the rim and tire of an 18 wheeler, large and pitch black, laying in the middle of the road. After I saw it I had less than a second before I hit it, so I literally had no time to flinch or react and hit it dead on. It destroyed the front bumper and part of the underbelly of the car. Was so mad. This place often has trash like this on the interstate. I called 911 to have a record of the incident. They told me unless I make a police report in the city, they couldn’t give me a record of this happening even though I reported it. I want to make a claim on the insurance. What should I do? Is it likely I can get this fixed in the comprehension side of the insurance. Should I do a police report? Will they ask for one?
