Involved in Hit and Run, next steps?

Overnight, I parked in a garage next to my apartment and when I came back to my car this afternoon, I noticed a dent in the back left bumper. I called the nonemergency police line to file a report and I am waiting for a call back from an officer. I asked the garage for video footage, but the weekend worker said to return on Monday because the weekday workers are more knowledgeable about obtaining camera footage (was told by the weekday worker that footage is saved for 30 days). What are the next steps I should take for this hit and run?
