I am currently AD Military and plan to use Tuition Assistance while still serving to complete my classes towards a finance degree. However, my concern is internship. As I research this path, I see that many people state an internship is crucial to networking and establishing as many avenues as possible to land a solid job. I am not sure how I might fulfill an internship with a company while also serving active duty and taking classes. I'd prefer to not waste the TA opportunity and get out and use the GI Bill solely for the time to intern and present myself with work experience to help with my job hunt. Really looking for advice on this whole situation if anyone has anything to share. Or has possibly gone through the same dilemma. Thank you.

Not sure what branch or how long you plan to stay in or anything, but I was just on shore duty for 3 years and got my Associates Degree in Business taking online classes only using Navy TA. You can worry about the internship portion later on whenever you get out IMO and focus on using TA while you are in for your degree. Then when you get out you can still use the GI Bill.

What state are you in? You may be able to get a state grant (CA promise for mine) that pays for your college and you don’t even have to deal with that TA bull****.

Also, there are skillbridges in your last year of service. So if you plan on getting out you could get the associates using TA now while eligible without the internship. Then potentially (not sure if finance is an option) skillbridge to get your work experience in finance before separating.

Just to add, depending on the college and degree plan, look into Sofia Learning as you can complete classes at your own pace, and they don’t affect your overall GPA. I finished a whole 8 week online class in 3 days using Sofia.
