I (22M) live in Maryland and need to get a new auto insurance policy. I have two cars, both over 20 years old, no accidents or tickets. When filling out quote forms, I always select no comprehensive coverage as both cars are worth almost nothing. Despite this, the figure I get is at least $1350/6 months. Ive shopped around and that $1350 quote is the cheapest by THOUSANDS. Whats interesting is that my rate is significantly cheaper before entering my vin numbers. Where do young people get insurance without getting robbed? (I see people say Erie but they're the most expensive)

    Best rate?

    1. I have Erie. They have a very small sliver of demographics that get great rates. But not for everyone. No one knows who will have the best rates for you. You might’ve already found it. Maybe not. Call an independent broker.

    2. Maryland is one of, if not the most expensive states for auto insurance. Young male drivers are the most expensive to insure. Frankly $2700/yr sounds very cheap to me. What cars are they?

    3. Erie here in MD. $1600 for 3 cars for 12 months (collision and comprehensive added).
They don’t insure everyone, but if they do, you usually get a great rate that’s very competitive. You may not qualify due to age but give it a try.

Edit: And honestly being a young driver you are getting not bad rate for 2 cars at all. If Erie is the most expensive for you, you are probably in high risk tier for them and they threw a high number to see if you bite.
