Geico has gotten expensive so I'm considering switching to Progressive. For the same amount of $$ monthly premium I can get significantly higher coverage – though still looking to save some $$ here and there. I'm 27, single, no accidents, live in California, make $70k a year. Is there anything here below that you would edit or doesn't make sense for me to have etc? Anything that can be cut to save? This new coverage is about the same price as the new Geico price (that was only at 100/300 levels though), so it's still pricey, but I'm willing to pay for more coverage. However anything here that can be excised to save $ I would really appreciate. Thank you!!

    Liability (BI/PD): 250/500/100 (alternatively could get a $300kCSL for +$7 or. $500kCSL for +$42)

    Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist BI: 250/500

Medical Payments: $5k (unsure as to how much here, did not have it on Geico)

    Comprehensive: $1k deductible

Collision: $1k deductible (bumping up to $1.5 k could save me $42, I can pay $1k or $1.5k in an emergency so the difference is negligible – should I save the $42 to go up to $1.5k?)

Collision Deductible Waiver: No coverage (alternatively, $1k deductible for +$3. A little confused because what does "no coverage" mean if it's a waiver)?

Uninsured Motorist PD: No coverage (only option)

Rental: $30 / day ($900 max) ($22 for this. or should i go up to $40 / day $1200 max for +$19. or get AAA?)

Roadside: Yes, $9 (but is it better to get AAA?)

Thank you for any and all thoughts!!

What edits would you make to save on this insurance?

Have you considered contact an insurance broker? When I in my early 20s I used progressive and the big names but I was able to get a lot more bang for my buck by going through a local insurance broker and have been very happy.

Why isnt uninsured motorist an option? I know you are asking for advice to save money but honestly, I would look at trying to get better coverage for similar money. Having a good auto insurance policy can save you from lots of risk and headaches in the event something goes wrong.

The collision waiver is coverage in the event you get hit and are not at fault. For example, I got hit recently and the other driver was at fault. I didnt have this coverage but the insurance company waived my deductible because I was clearly not at fault. This is important because the other driver had state minimum coverage (5K collision) and could not afford the repairs so I had to file a claim with my insurance.
