Started options in July – Put in $250 and up $100 so far. Not sure how large I can scale without diminishing returns. Helps I have a background in high frequency trading

I feel like I could have made a lot of money on options and crypto had I just pulled out in the green. Too many times I’m waiting for that life changing number. Should have focused on smaller wins.

I have been very conservative in my options trading. I started paper trading last year and all I do are earnings trades. I do calendar spreads on stocks that typically don’t move a lot after earnings. There were very few trades that fit my criteria this week since earnings season is coming to an end. As an example this week I traded SJM (JM Smuckers) and CPB (Campbell soup). Not as exciting as trading Nvda but the SJM trade returned 53% and the CPB trade returned 100%.
I have been trading live since the beginning of the year. I have limited my trades to 3 spreads max for each trade and a dollar limit of 300 dollars. So far I am up 15k in two earnings cycles. I also trade futures intraday but this is a nice little side hustle that only takes me less than an hour a day and 3 hours on the weekends. I am working on developing a list of names that I will continue to trade which will reduce the weekend research over time.
I will NEVER buy an option in hopes of the stock moving in any particular direction. I am sticking to selling them with protection in place.
