Fellow Redditors, I am a woman in her 20s needing guidance and advice regarding health insurance. I have been working for the same company for almost two years now. It’s time to re-enroll in insurance and I’ve noticed that the health insurance company my employer offers has MAYBE 3 in-network doctors/dentists/etc. My real question: is it in compliance with the ACA (or legal) to provide insurance if it doesn’t actually cover any medical costs? I did some looking and it was noted that “acceptable” insurance for the area must be offered (as in a reasonable amount of in network providers). The insurance company is located in a different state than the one I work in, which is my assumption as to why there aren’t in network providers. My employer definitely has over 50 full time employees which means they have to provide insurance right? I really don’t know much about this topic so if anyone could please help me that would be greatly appreciated. I’m just trying to figure out my options before committing to something that may not benefit me. TYIA

I would suggest going to healthcare.gov to learn more about the options under the ACA and see if you do have any eligibility based on your employer’s plan and your income.
