Does homeowner insurance cover an Oil Furnace where a seal failed and flooded part of the basement?

I asked my insurance agent, and they were wishy-washy. I had to replace the furnace because it was unfeasible to repair. My oil furnace repair guy thought it was a crack, turns out it was a seal that failed.
