Soo my offer phone call was this morning. I received the offer and the start date of October 31st and was asked if I had any days that would conflict with the Monday-Friday 10 am- 6:45 pm training. I did have TWO days within the 3 MONTHS of training that I mentioned I’d need to leave about 3 hours early. A total of about 5 hours missed of training. Not even asking for the entire day off. I was put on hold.

Basically, my offer was taken away. I can call back within 30 days and if they have the January class open I’ll be put into it but if not then I’m out of luck.

I’m extremely upset. I understand you can’t miss any days of training, genuinely. But does no one call out of training once or twice in the three months? I wanted to be honest because it’s one of progressives values and it bit me in the ass. My submission on the progressive job site now says “Withdrew”.

That being said, I’m willing to wait till January 31st to start but would anyone know if those training classes will be “open” by early October? Or will they still be hiring for October/November training class. Any insight is so appreciated.

After passing the background check I was so relieved and excited and ready to give progressive my absolute all. Now this.

Offer phone call took a turn 🙁

    1. Former claims new hire trainer here, including call center – hardline attendance for training is a must must must. I used to train for 8 weeks straight and missing class was a big deal. It sets you back from the rest of the class and catching up can be tough.

Now, is it shitty that you got bounced? Absolutely. But it’s likely something that was advertised within the job offer *and* you’re competing against hundreds of applicants and they would rather have someone who is absolutely available for training.

      Life happens, yes.
