Damage from truck in front of me

My car was hit by debris falling off of a dump truck (literally pieces of the truck itself.) I was a lane over but these were flat rusty segments of metal flying through the air.

There is one deep scratch on my hood, several “rock chip” type of marks, and chips out of my windshield in several places. I’m extremely frustrated as the number of panels involved mean that my insurance will likely go up, but there is no way I could have avoided this as I was not close or directly behind this truck.

The truck had no visible license plates, so police were called and a report was provided (which is only done in certain cases of injury or vehicular safety issues in my state. More pieces were visibly flying off of this trunk as we followed it into a rest area for the police report.

The driver himself had no license but the truck was apparently insured under someone else. What are my odds of actually getting their insurance to pay?
