It was a small upstairs toilet leak. Later, I realized I just needed to replace the wax ring and then I replaced some drywall. I'm a first time home owner and never filed an insurance claim on anything so at the time, I trusted the flood companies judgement and I'm pretty sure I signed my name on the claim he wrote. I realized The flood company was super sketchy, I saw him tell the plumber to heavily exaggerate the damage and sign off on it like he was doing me a huge favor and I got sick to my stomach reviewing the document i signed. He claimed the flange of the toilet completely failed and water was "heavily pouring and pouring out."
The flood guy had already personally talked to my insurance agent. When he left I immediately got another company out who said the damage was extremely minimal. I reviewed the document, quickly called the insurance company and told them I don't want to move forward with making any claims. The damage was super easy to fix up and there's no water damage or moisture detected around the area.

I'm pretty sure I fucked myself, looking back it is my fault, I should have reviewed everything the flood company was saying to my insurance agent, and shouldn't have signed anything, or at least reviewed every detail of what i signed. It seemed to happen so fast. Should I even bother disputing the claim (that I never moved forward with)? It's making it difficult for me to find home insurance with this false "massive damage" on my record which never happened, but has my fucking signature attached to it. Wouldn't disputing it just get me in trouble? On paper, I'm a liar, i signed the document. I know, I'm an idiot but now I need to know what to do. Just bite the bullet, and take the hit forever?

Had a small leak, a flood company heavily exaggerated the damage and lied to my insurance, I didn't move forward with the claim when another company told me the damage was extremely minimal. Now I'm having trouble getting home insurance due to the false documentation, what do I do?
