I blew 3 tires on my travel trailer. Two of them put holes in the floor going all the way through and the other ripped the black water tank and the cords for the slide making it inoperable. The travel trailer is valued at 18k. Insurance quoted me 6k but the rv dealer quoted me 51k and said it was totaled. When I talked with insurance they said that was ridiculous and will get back to me but will most likely want a second opinion. Can they make me get multiple quotes? I would prefer to just have the money for a new travel trailer instead of having a patched floor and would prefer to not have to take the time taking it to multiple places. Can I refuse to take it to another dealer or can they force me to get another quote? I am in Iowa.

Can insurance company make me get multiple quotes?

    1. NYS/NJ/CT they can’t make you get more quotes, up to them. You didn’t cite state so can’t say for all but most states they can’t make you get multiples, up to them to figure it out.

    2. They can’t force you to get another quote but they don’t have to pay what your one quote says it will cost.

    3. your rv dealer gave you the – i dont want to fix it price. they have proverbially told you to go away they dont want the job

your insurance carrier in accordance with state law and your policy has written for the best case scenario at this point.

find a different rv dealer who actually wants to fix your trailer
