Asking for a friend. He just purchased a car, cash pay off. He’s the sole insured person on the vehicle. If his son, who just got drivers license, drives his car, is the son covered under his insurance?

Your “friend” should have been asked to disclose all household members of driving age, regardless of whether they are licensed or not. If your “friend” has done so, and there is no exclusion for said child on the insurance policy, there should be coverage afforded. If your “friend” has neither disclosed his son (who lives with him) to his insurance company; or if there is a driver exclusion on the policy, there would be no coverage on the policy.
