I have the passion and drive to start a business, I spend my freetime researching how it works, drafting up business plans for an idea and then realizing it isn't sustainable or very profitable in my area. I'm not tech savy so I can't get with the app creation, AI tool creation etc. but after all of my manic nights up getting excited about every idea I have and going all in on the research and realizing it wasn't a very good idea, I'm starting to get discouraged. People say to capitalize on what you're passionate about and good at but none of the things I'm passionate about I can come up with a profitable idea regarding and I wouldn't say I'm good enough at anything specific to create an entire business on it. My creativity died a long time ago and I just don't know how to get it back. What do I do now?

Can't come up with a business idea.

    1. Use the business model canvas like a pro and also try to feel the problems you want to solve. Make sure you walk out in real life and observe people and what they do. How can you intervene?

I feel you. You are on entrepreneurs block. You might have good ideas for the public but not necessarily good ideas to you anymore. Perhaps your ideas might work out there but they don’t motivate you, or perhaps they aren’t profitable just yet but they will be at the right time and place.

One thing you should remember is that a good product needs a good market. So many things came way before their time and failed, like the electric car or even basic pencils. It takes time before things are accepted in public and knowing the right time to put something out there is the difference between failure and success.

That’s why most people or investors would want more than just vision but actually market acceptance… something that is incredibly tough to do. You basically need to be novel enough but not too novel and not too outdated and that is sometimes just a matter of luck, besides being very competitive.

I’m sorry but I am in the same situation but i’m very skilled as a programmer and business developer but I just feel like I never have any luck. Every time I invest my time and effort in a great idea it never gets adopted only to see it getting financed massively ten years later.

    2. Business youtube, such as Greg Isenberg, can help you brainstorm new ideas.

In regards to being tech saavy, there’s tools out there that can help you with that. No code tools are out there and even chatgpt can come up with code for whatever you describe.

    3. You should not be looking for an ‘idea’ as such. Look for a problem.
      (1) Can you solve the problem? What does it cost to build?
      (2) are people willing to pay for your solution
      (3) how many will buy x price you can charge = $potential
      (4) if $potential < build cost, look closer, validate assumptions.

Its much harder to sell your idea than it is to get money to take their pain away

    4. The business book “Rework” was really helpful for me.

One of the chapters was called “solve your own problem”. many profitable businesses offer solutions to people in exchange for their money. Now think about your own life or better, your community, what needs improvement?
