My fiance is a 27F with a clean driving record. For her entire adult life she has driven a vehicle on her grand parents policy but apparently never listed as a driver.

I now have bought her a used Mercedes GL450 and am struggling to start her an insurance policy. Is it more likely her lack of insurance for 11 years of possible driving or is there potential for some type of bad vehicle history i havent uncovered? How does this all work? I have a commercial policy for my company and trying to avoid adding her to that.

Multiple declinations – Vehicle or the driver?

The issue is likely due to your fiancé’s lack of insurance history. Insurance companies can be cautious with drivers who haven’t been listed before. Vehicle history seems less likely the problem.

    2. It’s almost certainly due to her not having any insurance background. She’s extremely fortunate she’s never had an at fault accident because grandparent’s insurance would deny the claim leaving them financially responsible (and herself) for tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages, as well as the possibility of them having them dropped by their company. She’s been driving illegally all these years.

It might help to start fresh with her own policy. Many insurers look at driving history, so her clean record is a plus.
