Hey everyone! I was hit from behind at a red light. The insurance company of the person who hit me is National General. They stated I cannot get a rental til my car is in the shop getting repaired and all parts must be present as well.

Is this the new standard? I can’t get a rental til everything is present?

Yes, insurance companies pay for repair time only. So once you set a drop off repair date with the shop, you can get in the rental vehicle. If the vehicle is non driveable due to the damage, some carriers will put you in a rental right away as long as liability has been confirmed

    2. If your car is safe to drive, then yeah, they won’t pay if you drop your car at the shop and it just sits while they wait for parts.
