I’ve been paying for disability insurance (BCBS) offered by my employer for many years. This insurance pays out something like 60% of salary monthly but I’m not sure for how long. Low and behold, I injured my back and it’s been getting worse. I can still work for now but I am worried the day might come when I cannot perform my job duties because of my injury and I will have to quit or get fired.
Can I rely on this disability insurance that it will actually pay me or will I have to hire an attorney and spend months or years trying to prove that I’m unable to work? Or is it on case by case basis?
Can I rely on disability insurance offered through work?
