While I am planning to use my auto insurance for this, I am curious how this will play out.

A small trucking company registered in Colorado, has out-of-state insurance through Nebraska, specifically Farm Bureau Financial Services.

Their insurance card only lists one insured, and it is not the company, but who I assume is the owner.

Now I called FBSB to file an insurance claim with their insured. Originally I had reported this to the police as a hit and run, but once the police got in contact with the driver, magically, he came back to talk to me so that we could exchange insurance.

Turns out, when speaking to the agent, the driver is not listed on the insurance policy, and as I was talking to the insurance company, the owner of the trucking company emailed me to speak with them prior to insurance. And weirdly, the owner is also not listed on the policy (maybe a co-owner, same last name).

So now that I’ve realized this is quickly going to be a little more complicated, I will call my insurance company to have them deal with this. But I am curious what is going on here. Insurance fraud?

The son was obviously not using the vehicle for company purposes as evident in my camera footage and police report.

And this is a commercial truck registered in Nebraska.
