I’m about to start IVF treatment to hopefully be pregnant in the new few months, and I’m looking for business ideas to start at home during this process.
For some background, I currently work as an accountant consultant, and my current contract will end in April 2025. This will hopefully be well into pregnancy for me and I know that it’ll be hard to find another contract or job at that time. Additionally, I likely won’t receive maternity benefits having been at a company for such a short amount of time. I’d like a way to supplement at least some of my income, and have been interested in starting a new business for quite some time.
I currently run a small business in the digital services space that brings in some earnings, but has been hard to grow and scale over the past 4 years.
My skills include accounting and writing. I also recently took a social media and email marketing course. I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions for businesses I could start.

Since you already have experience in writing and recently took a social media and email marketing course, starting a writing agency or a social media marketing agency could be a great next step. You can offer services like content creation, social media management, and email campaigns to small businesses or entrepreneurs. To scale the business and attract more clients, it might help to beef up your online marketing skills by doing courses on advanced Facebook ads and Google ads. This will let you offer paid ad services too, which are in high demand. You could package these services together to provide more value and generate more income.
