Hey everyone,

I’m looking for advice on finding business partners for my locally hosted lead generation software. It’s been frustrating navigating this process—reaching out to networks often leads to lukewarm responses, and even when I communicate the mutual benefits, many potential partners seem hesitant.

Building trust takes time, and I’m putting in a lot of effort but not seeing the results I need. If anyone has tips, strategies, or platforms that have worked for them in finding beneficial partnerships, I’d really appreciate your insights!

    Thanks in advance!

Meet in person, grab coffee, keep it light, build a relationship, evaluate body language and non verbal behavior, pay for the coffee, I don’t care if it’s two hours away and I’m not a boomer but much personal connection is lost in email, text, phone, etc….

    2. If you’re new to business, it is highly unlikely you will find a good partner. You don’t actually know what you need in a partner to complement your skill set, because you likely don’t even know what your own skill set is.

I would say finding a good partner in the beginning is about as rare as marrying your first girlfriend/boyfriend in middle school….

Your chances of finding a bad partner are incredibly high, like, really really high.

Idk if this is a hot take, but I’d stay away from partners while new. That is, unless, you can find an older and well seasoned partner who you can tell is just looking to help younger people, and they’ve made so much money that their game is now seeing if they can make other people make money.

Also, I think a lot of people think that having a partner will suddenly increase their revenue from zero to profitable. Not saying that is you, but you should be able to sail the ship on your own to at least a certain extent for a partner to compliment you anyway. Otherwise, what are they even complimenting?

This is exactly the point I’m stuck. Trying to find a partner/ cofounder for almost a year now with no luck.

Getting involved with local startup events like conferences, launches, exhibitions, and the like could be a good start. You can also ask your financial advisor or accountant for business contacts, if you want to try cold-calling.

    5. Finding the right business partners can definitely be challenging, especially when trust is such a key factor. One strategy is to focus on building relationships through smaller, low-commitment collaborations first—this can help establish trust gradually. Also, platforms like LinkedIn and AngelList are great for connecting with potential partners who are aligned with your business goals. Networking at local events or industry-specific meetups can help, too! If you ever need help with creating a strategic outreach plan or enhancing your pitch to potential partners, feel free to reach out!
