I’m in a difficult situation and could really use some advice. I was recently involved in a car accident where another driver hit my vehicle.
I bought a new vehicle last year. Unfortunately, I don’t have collision coverage, and I’m feeling overwhelmed. ( somehow missed to add it through the app)

    Here are the details:
    – Injury: I have bruises and pain in my left arm, shoulder, and upper chest.
    – Car Damage: My car, which I purchased last year for about $35,000, sustained significant damage.
    – Other Driver: The other driver has been unresponsive and is not accepting liability for the accident. It’s been a week and half after this accident. The at fault insurance company is dodging off.

    My questions are:
    1. What options do I have for handling the damage to my new car?
    2. Should I seek medical treatment for my injuries, even if they seem minor?
    3. What steps should I take regarding my insurance, considering my lack of collision coverage?
    4. Are there any legal actions I should consider, especially given that the other driver is not cooperating?
    5. Any resources or tips for someone in my situation would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help!

    1. 1. If you have uninsured motorist coverage, file and they will take care of it. If you plan to sue, you may need to rent a vehicle for the time being and then put the rental reimbursement as part of the lawsuit.
      2. If you have uninsured motorist coverage…yes. If you plan to sue….yes. Any other situation, unless you have great health insurance….no.
      3. Did you have Uninsured Motorist Coverage. This instance sounds like Collision or Uninsured Motorist Coverage could be used.
      4. If you have uninsured motorist coverage, file through your insurance. If you do not, your only option is to sue the atfault party. I hope you called the police and have a police report. There are many law firms that will defend you and probably for free for a percentage of payout. Just listen to the radio for a few hours. You’ll hear an add.

If you’re injured you should seek treatment. You don’t have collision coverage so your insurance can’t help you here since you chose not to insure your vehicle for this. You’re at the mercy of the party and their insurance.
