Consider getting a bachelor’s degree. If you don’t and you grow older seeing people with degrees out earn you by a lot you’ll wonder if maybe you should have got one yourself. It’s easier when you’re young and don’t have many responsibilities. Even if you just want to be a nurse a 4 year degree will give you a leg up. Being an entrepreneur doesn’t work out for everyone. It can involve a complicated skill set that may not come easily at all. If you have a well-paying skill to fall back on that can help. I had a high school biology teacher who picked up shifts as an RN for extra money. My brother’s stepdaughter makes terrific money working as a contract nurse. She could stop any time her current contract runs out and do whatever she wants to for awhile with all the money she earned. She doesn’t get benefits but AFAIK it’s like having a regular nursing job, just pays better.

Learn marketing, that is how to speak your customer’s language. Want to know why most fiction writer’s starve? They don’t ever learn how to talk to their own customers, their readers. It’s the classic ego problem that runs them into the poor house.
