Is it true that your TSP for civil service is separate from your TSP for military service? I was under the impression that my civil service tsp would transfer over to my AD military service TSP.
I was told this by my HR department but wanted to ask those with personal experience.

Seperate.
Separate, but you can request to combine them.
Separate, but you can combine them when you are no longer in the military.
If you are dual status (reserve or national guard, and federal civilian) they will stay separate.
Separate but it doesn’t matter from a mathematical or financial standpoint. It’s just one more thing to manage.
