Ideally I want to spend on long term marketing strategies that will continue to return rather than one off strategies.
How should I spend my $1000 monthly marketing budget?

Depends, if you have enough creative assets and depending on the niche maybe Meta or Bing paid search. For long term strategies on Meta use a simple 2 campaign structure, one for brand awareness on small budgets on daily budgets. One to retarget those viewers into a conversion. Make sure you have conversion tracking set up
