So half the 100K above expectation was from Wendy’s and bars.

      That tracks.

Not a great sign for future economic health.

That usually means people needed a second (or third) job to offset cost of living increases. Or they needed a gap filler because they were laid off from their career job and while they look for new employment need to cover the loss in income.

      69k jobs added, nice.

Due to 69k WSB readers having to go back to work because they blew up their ports

Looks like your wife’s boyfriend has been hitting up the back dumpster area a little more recently. Tsk tsk.

The fact that “drinking places” needed all those extra employees…gives you a clue on how people feel about the economy.

Bloomberg radio dumped on “”low skill”” workers on todays broadcast. Those sacks of s&@$ truly hate working class folks

    7. People’s parents probably tired of supporting their kids’ r/antiwork philosophy lol.

    8. Can confirm. My Wendy’s been hiring like mad and the interview takes place behind closed doors on a couch.

There’s a constant stream of regards from WSB and Wendy’s is always hiring. Probably all the bears.

    10. how many teslas are parked in wendy’s employee spots now? Are all those AI displaced knowledge workers punching burger orders on systems they used to build and maintain…?

    11. glad my employment there is helping the stock market moon ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8882)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4276)

    12. I was saying this earlier in the daily discussion chat ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271) anyone who sees this as a win is meme’ing

Not surprised! If you have a white-collared corporate job looking for new employment then you are fucked. If you are in tech who was let go in this “death by 1000 cuts” layoffs, then you are double fucked! However, jobs seem plenty in gig economy, fast food, hospitality, nursing homes, home care etc. Strictly anectodal, but i pass though an industrial part of town every day and for the last 10-12 yrs i’ve been seeing “Help wanted” outside multiple businesses (auto shops, plumbing/hvac companies, small warehouses etc), but now even those signs have disappeared. I feel if the hiring in corporate sector does not pick up then we are in for some interesting times ahead..

Just like how unemployment doesn’t count folks whose UI has run out. Leaving a good job for a shittier job = “job creation”

    15. I work from home as a security monitoring specialist, shit pay about 45k but oh boy does save me the headache driving, and listening to the gobblygooks of nearby workers. 5 years into this position and hopefully upgrade to government security job one day.
