It seems like the US is starting to wake up to the fact that nuclear is a strong option for renewable energy, as demand spikes for new data center, electrification and other higher demands for electricity. Here are my current portfolio of stocks in this space: CEG, BWXT, FLR, CCJ, NEE, SO, EXC, DUK. Any other nuke stocks or ETFs that you like?

    1. Pretty sad that NOW government is waking up to the reality that nuclear is essentially the only answer we have ever had in terms of energy, until someone figures out cold fusion.

I have held CCJ for a while now, I think it’ll continue its upside trend.

    2. I’m a MSc in energy and I work in the energy industry.

I would **never, ever, ever** touch nuclear energy stocks with a ten-foot-pole.

Playing the uranium angle is a much surer thing than the reactor builders / utilities; there are too many players and it seems fairly likely that your Googles and Oracles will want to own and operate their own SMRs. We haven’t got enough uranium production to meet all of the planned capacity and new mines will take a decade to build. Rising uranium prices will raise all boats in the uranium sector. Much harder to go wrong.

If you’re dead set on operators I would look at the [extensive list of decomissioned reactors](https://www.nei.org/resources/statistics/decommissioning-status-for-shutdown-us-plants) and pick a couple favourites based on risks, capacity, location and decomissioning status rather than investing in every company that has ever touched nuclear.

    4. NuScale Power (SMR) have been great for me.

Seems like you are more into Nuclear powerplants that are actually up and running tho? Not familiar with any of those, but im not exactly well read on the topic.

I guess it depends on heavily on the region, but I see way more upside in selling overpriced SMR reactors to desperate countries willing the subsidize the shit out of them rather than trying to profit from selling energy from Nuclear when they are up and running.

CEG has been plain insane since its spin-off from EXC. Not sure it’s worth the current valuation, though.

    6. Nice collection, hard to find much more in the US. I’m picking up a bit of PCG, they have a lot of nuclear generation and it’s a beaten down stock

I believe Exelon spun off all its generation, including nuclear, in 2022. It is therefore an exceptionally bad stock for nuclear speculation but probably good otherwise. I am going to assume that you bought it before that happened and are not well regarded.

I own CEG and NEE, but only for the retirement portfolio. Gave up on Southern a while back. NEE seems fairly open to developing multiple sources of energy, so I like they are positioned to play whatever advantage comes along. CEG has the Gates/Microsoft AI backing, as they work to reopen 3 Mile Island facility with safer more advanced nuclear technology. Both feel like reasonable plays for investment, but don’t know about option trading…

BWXT is a trainwreck and led by a bunch of hacks. Their triso fueled SMR for the Pele project is way over budget and behind schedule. It’ll never become reality and will only reinforce that SMR technology is not here yet.

The nuclear fuel cycle has potential for big gains and uranium is the trade there.

The uranium ETFs URNM and URA …also the sprott physical uranium trust to get exposure to the actual commodity U.UN SRUUF .

    11. As other have said, stick with uranium producers/miners. Look the price of uranium per pound and you will see the clear trend.
Cameco is your safest bet on that, BHP Billiton is the best miner but has lots of iron/copper which obfuscate the uranium effect. Kazakhstani production is the elephant in the room but I wouldnt dare to touch Russian cronies

    12. CEJ and CCJ has been blowing up on bullish alerts for a while. Good long term but that’s all on what you think as long term. I swing it all and try not to hold anything too long. Need liquidity for other stocks blowing up.

    13. CCJ and DNN

Largest and biggest players in Canada.

Both will be supplying uranium to the Saskatchewan government for their new proposed nuclear reactor. 🤫

OKLO is the best option IMO. They have the healthiest balance sheet amongst SMR projects, a strong leadership team with PhDs, first mover advantage within the NRC application process and have hired on former regulatory staff, reactor technology that was already proven through decades of testing between 1964-1994, unique expertise within uranium recycling, and probably most importantly, partnership commitments driven by a robust commercialization model that is scalable and profitable overtime. This fits well with the future local energy needs of AI data centers.
