These aren’t anything special tbh. Just big drones acting as private helicopters.

The breakthrough is not here yet, unfortunately. Planned rides above are mostly between downtowns and airports as the infrastructure (landing pads and safety / security arrangements) is already there. Ticket prices, as I heard, are in a few hundred dollars range for 20 – 30 min ride. The way I see it, it is still a niche industry. Nice to get from the Central Park to JFK or from Santa Barbara to LAX for those who can afford, but not for much more.
It will take off only when FAA allows fully automated, human-guided (no pilot license) vertical take-off vehicles with cost of ride below $100 per flight, possibly split between up to four passengers. Technology for that (which is different from the described above) is here, but not the will of the FAA to let ginni out of the bottle licensing fully automatic control of human transportation.

eVTOL is cool, but the idea that we will ever have “Air Taxis” is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
You seriously think the FAA is gonna let these take off from anywhere other than helipads and airports?
You think they will allow them to fly low over residential neighbourhoods and critical infrastructure?
You think the human throughput vs cost ratio of this mode of transit will ever be useful for anything more than sightseeing tours and shuttling a handful of rich people around?
Get real. This is a helicopter replacement, not an “Air Taxi”.

Trains, planes, automobiles, etc… have all yielded pretty terrible returns for early investors despite revolutionizing transportation.
So to everyone who chooses to invest in companies like this I thank you for your sacrifice to move humanity forward.

My company has pursued eVTOLs for years to use for medical purposes. They threw in the towel because of the FAA who wouldn’t grant approval to fly organs, now some Federale changed their mind to fly whole living humans?

This thing is going to be in India and says it can hold 4 passengers plus the pilot.
