The European Union is currently negotiating its energy and climate goals for 2030 as well as its long-term strategy for 2050. The negotiations thus far show that the energy transition across Europe is progressing at very differing speeds. Whether a country pushes for a transition to renewable energies depends in large part on its national interest and energy mix. At the same time, ambitious energy and climate policy progress will only truly materialise if answers to structural change challenges are found and politically implemented across Europe.
We will discuss the future of energy and climate policy in Europe. We ask what local and national solution methods can provide answers to societal challenges of structural change, and what we can learn from each other in this regard.
