Experts are warning the week-long maritime jam in the Suez Canal could have long lasting repercussions as maritime traffic once again resumes.

The Ever Given cargo ship left more than 400 vessels stranded after becoming stuck in one the world’s busiest waterways.

The traffic backlog reportedly cost approximately $9 billion each day in global trade.

Chairman of Suez Canal authority says 130 ships have sailed through since the waterway reopened and 140 more will pass through today.
