What would the wording of such an amendment be? How far does it conflict with property rights? Will it outline what parts of the environment is under government protection? Will this be the responsibility of an existing body or will it require the creation of a new executive arm? Nobody should be in support or opposition of vague statements like this. Protect the Earth? That’s great, but how?

    2. I’m sorry. A seven-hour town hall that aired on TV? The whole thing? Or was it edited down to fit a regular time slot?

Edit: Thanks, everyone, for the links! I’m not from the US, so this shit is fascinating…and, to be frank, impactful on the whole planet. Good luck to your favoured candidate! (Unless they are racists/homophobic/climate change denier)

That sounds like feel good wording that will be interpreted six ways to Sunday to accomplish whatever is convenient at the time. It does nothing real.

Interesting idea, but it would never pass without a two-thirds supermajority in Congress. Something to think about, but concrete environmental action is much more important.

Yes! This is absolutely falls under life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Can’t have any of those three if the planet is not habitable.

Montana has environmental protections in its State Constitution. Article 9 begins:

      >The state and each person shall maintain and improve a clean and healthful environment in Montana for present and future generations.

    7. I’m kind of a lost dude in life, struggling to find a career. the armed forces might actually work well for me since I like structure and job security, problem is I’m a pacifist.

Imagine if the country created a environment force, I’d sign up right away.

    8. at this point i’m willing to vote for anyone showing that they will improve the shithole we keep digging

    9. I vote Republican by registration, but often vote Democrat when affiliation doesnt matter.

You might be surprised at the number of conservative hunters and outdoorsman that would easily encourage a “leave it better than you found it” amendment.

The closer you get to a National Forest or Park, the more disgust you will hear from conservatives at the idea of having a fracking well dumped in your backyard, or clear cut forests, or rivers getting dirtier and dirtier.

Hopefully I dont get downvoted off the planet for being registered as a Republican, but now would be a great time for left leaning subs to realize there are plenty of friendlies across the aisle that would be on your side on some issues even while opposing you on others.

Edit: If Yang can make it through DNC rule changes, back stabbing, and lack of party support…I plan on voting Yang for the general election #YangGang.

    10. I am happy to see Yang being more bold outside of Basic Income. IMO, this amendment may also be easier to implement, and its impact may be more clear and obviously beneficial.

    11. I like Andrew Yang for the same reasons I like Bernie and love Warren. These people all seem to have some pretty well constructed and well thought out ideas for policy. Policy that seems rather practical and not some bullshit, alternate reality stuff either.

    12. I love this Green “Arms Race” that’s happening. Keep it up presidential hopefulls! Come elections day I will be voting for the person with the most effective / aggresive environmental plan!

    13. As a constitutionalist I do believe that adding an amendment such as this would be awesome. What’s the worst that happens if we reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and try to make the world a better place? However it bothers me giving the government more power. They already own tons of land for our national forests and are fucking them up in the daily. Not sure what could be a good compromise though just ranting.

    14. Fuck I love this guy, don’t think he stands a chance, but I agree with everything he has to say.

I highly recommend anyone who has not seen Andrew on The Joe Rogan Experience to check it out.

    15. My “epic gamer” solution

      Step 1: Space

Amp up our space programs, even team up with other countries to explore space and the ability to travel there more efficiently.

      Step 2: Space Material Harvesting

Use this newfound knowledge and skill to harvest materials from asteroids comets and even other planets.

      Step 3: Profit

Lots of money, after the first successful mission, the space economy will boom. Take this opportunity to make all energetic on Earth used to be a lot more green and to slowly set course for a full green energy plan

      Step 4: Space but more

      Colonize planets, mega stonks
Mess up other planets for materials, who cares no life anyway
      Go to farther galaxies
      Star Wars

Boom perfect plan with no flaws and a full proof step by step guide with the smallest details imaginable, you’re welcome mankind

Yang is speaking like a 2020 politician, not a 2000s politician, and it is refreshing. Stop bring up 9/11 and bring up automation and climate change, the things that people really care about now.
