The European Union is trying to save gas for winter as Russian energy flows become increasingly uncertain.

But the bloc has to burn something else to fill the gap, and it is looking to coal, the most polluting fossil fuel, despite a plan to cut carbon emissions in the coming years.

The International Energy Agency says the EU’s coal consumption is set to rise by 7 percent this year. However, it could face a shortage in supply as a ban on Russian coal came into force earlier this month.

Meanwhile in the United States, Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act is a big win; but is it enough?

    1. Even God cannot Trust these Colonials in Dark, how can we? 😅 These are selfish people only know how to fill their pockets by stealing from others their hypocrisy on climate change is now visible to everyone

    2. The narrative of Time Traveller AL Bielek in 2000 has some insights about how rising sea levels will destroy numerous cities along the coastline in America.

    3. putyn has to save face, off ramp, or win. his forces fail, he goes bio/chem. if that fails, he is already putting tactical nukes on Belarus fighter jets, and so on, so on, until nuke button !!
Are you sure, putyn is talking of "nuclear winter" !! Gas is easy! Think on that 4 a minute!! usa/west Needs to "Build that wall of Power" at rusky border. If not needed, that's Way cheaper than letting putyn run wild all the way to the atlantic, Artic, Med.!! Right? !! Go Ukraine/ Taiwan Freedom for the World aint cheap. $$ Support World Freedom Warriors. Not too Late, YET !!

    4. The 'Green deal' was always going to be hard if not impossible to bring in, cloud cuckoo land springs to mind, and the electric vehicle revolution is total BS, we simply have not enough known metals in the Earth's crust to replace the existing fossil fuel burning vehicles on the road with electric vehicles !

    5. I remember when Gwede Mantashe got back lash from the west for saying coal will remain a crucial part of South Africa's energy mix for many years to come. Time for South Africa and Africa as a whole to progress at its own pace, because clearly things aren't exactly going swimmingly in the first world as well.

    6. The cost will depend on whether this is short term or a long term strategy. Get working on the renewables then we can stop relying on Russia and look after the environment at the same time. Win win.

    7. My God, what a unhealthy behaviour on that homeowner having a room for coal, entering there in, moving it… coal generates PM2,5 black carbon particles which are extremely hazardous for cardiorespiratory system. It produces cancer by breathing it.

    8. Stop hosting NATO troops Poland and you will have more energy supplies and less food, ergo inflation or just continue being stupid and our US puppet.. Meanwhile as an Ami, I love profiting from your sanctions against "R" and fake worries. Pay baby pay and smell that stink of brown coal every day!!!!

    9. No amount of research, science, technological advancements, liberal freedoms, business leadership, and wars abroad has exposed Europe's idiocy than going back to coal the minute Russia invaded Ukraine.
