    The irrepressible ice of the Kara Sea, for the first time in the history of Arctic research, was towed with steel cable lines. The taming of an iceberg was performed by the Almaz and Kigoriak tugs, and they did it demonstrating exceptionally precise navigation skills in a unique, environmentally safe manner. Nearly 1.5 million tons of drifting ice was tugged to a distance that is safe for drilling platforms. In recent years, the danger of gas extracting platforms colliding with icebergs has drastically increased.
