My dad told me that I would have to wait for the pink slip in order to request for a new policy by myself with my insurance. This might take 30 days to do so and my parents currently paused my insurance due to fear of paying double in a month. Can't I just show them proof of the car being paid off fully?

Question! Do you need a pink slip for proof of car ownership to get insurance coverage?

    1. What State? Usually the pink slip refers to the insurance slip not proof of ownership.

Even if you did manage to insure it, how are you going to register it without the title? You’re not thinking of driving it without registration and tags, are you?

    3. Never heard of needing proof of ownership to insure the car you usually only need to tell them the VIN and make and model of the car

When you buy a car, say at the dealership, you won’t have the title right away.

That being said I don’t think insurance has ever required me to show them anything. I’ve just sat in the dealership on my phone and did the insurance. Only thing I really needed I think was the VIN from the car. My last one I don’t even think I showed a bill of sale.

In that case you need insurance the second it’s pulled off the lot. And it would be a few weeks to get a title when paying cash. With a loan you would get a memorandum title instead of a regular title and you would have to list the bank as the owner

    5. My most recently purchased car was paid cash and while I added the vehicle to my insurance all they asked was is there lien holder I said no that was it. They didn’t ask for title ( I didn’t get it in the mail two weeks after the purchase anyway) and it being mine vs having a lien holder makes 0 price difference for my insurance. Not sure what the pink slip is.
