The car was hot by a driver insured by Mercury insurance. I am having the collision center mark the adjusters reduced estimate because he's trying to say damage was existing when it absolutely was not. At this point, I just want a check cut to put down on another vehicle because mercury doesn't want to total out the vehicle (it's an old Tucson worth $3k) even though the estimate was $6k worth of work.
My first step is to have the collision center validate that the damage was not existing & send that back to the adjuster. At that point, how do I go about just getting a check cut instead of going through repairs? They are becoming a headache

Call your adjuster and say “can you please just send me the check directly?”
Also, ask if they can just pay you cash for the rental you would need for the repair time and you’ll manage it yourself. Some companies will do this, others may not.
Rest assured people ask for the moon and then some over nothing all day every day. The worst they can do is say “no.”
your body shop is gonna want money from you for their time and effort if you stop repairs and take the money and run
