I bought my home 1yr 1/2 ago and recently noticed that the hot water is leaking below the foundation, it started off as a small leak and now its surpassing the current flooring (LVT) and is also beneath the cabinets. To my knowledge, I have mortgage insurance and hazard insurance but I do not have home owner/flood insurance. Is there anything I can do to prevent paying out of pocket? Can I possibly obtain a flood insurance and then file a claim?

Pretty sure it’s not hot water or below the foundation. I would suggest calling a plumber and getting a quote and go from there.
1. This wouldn’t be a covered under a standard flood policy.
2. This leak isn’t sudden and accidental, it’s been occurring over a long period of time, therefore it’s not a covered peril, it’s a maintainence issue.
