I want to potentially start my own business or be independent and make my own income without a boss. What can I do to contribute to that future goal as a freshman in college? I’m plan on being an engineer and want to facilitate my business aspiration now, but don’t know what I can do to start. Any tips?
What can I do as a 1st year college student?

Since the customer is boss, expects you to read their mind, and fires at will … this doesn’t bode well.
Engineers tend to gravitate toward Build It And They Will Come ventures. That’s [How To Crash Your Startup.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/mupm4w/comment/gv8mh4q/?context=3)
Best make some contacts in the business community while at college …then try not ignoring the advice of every last one.
Get more experience in the field, that makes it easier to get funds later.
Also an engineering/hardware startup is propbably the most expensive. Ask my how I know 😐
Learn marketing.
Make anything go viral, and you can sell anything.

Or you can find a simple product that’s in demand and sell it at your school.
I hope this helps!
Build an online audience. Give as much value as you can. Talk about things that you would love to setup ur biz around. Then when u graduate u can create offers and monetise ur audience.
