After working corporate jobs for the last 12 years and making steady promotions and salary increases I got bored and was looking for a change. I took the first step and I’m now self employed and I have my first assignment. But I’m basically doing the same kind of work with the only difference being the way I get paid.

I now want to take the next step and actually start a business that does not rely on me selling my time. But where do you start? I’m pretty passionate about coffee and coffee roasting but I did some math and I don’t see my self making a living of that. I don’t feel like drop shipping random junk from china.

So my question is basically how did you come up with the idea for your business?

Where did you get the idea for your business?

sounds good- with 12 Years of Experience you must be good in what youre doing. Could you explain what exactly your Job was and what Service your offering in your business? Also im curious about in which continent your located – I ve noticed that there is a huge difference in doing business the American way vs. the European vs. the Asian way.

      Thanks

I have a similar path like you.

I was working at an agency when I started my agency.

But to be honest, if you hire, and price well enough, it really is less about selling your time. Even with an E-commerce startup there are things you have to do that aren’t scalable until you hit scale.

With that said, you should try to create a burner account on Tiktok and tailor your feed to finding trending products.

This can help you with with some product ideas.

Since you’re passionate about coffee I would do more research to uncover ways to start a business that is not strictly selling coffee straight up, you’ll be surprised at the creative ways you could potentially make money in the sector if you stick within it long enough

My background is similar to yours. I worked in a field for several years then took the leap and went self-employed in that field. And I too didn’t want to just sell my time. The business evolved and grew over time and became a very successful national company that I enjoyed working in.

So where did I get the idea(s) for my business?

      My clients.

As I listened to them describe their dreams and difficulties, I discovered there was tons of opportunity to innovate and be creative.

So to kill two birds with one stone – coming up with viable business ideas(s) *and* getting away from selling my time – I came up with ideas to package my services.

I took the client feedback (their ideas) and created monthly services packages (my idea).

That became the winning combination – the intersection of where their deep hunger and my deep gladness met.

    5. I always just had a knack for it, I knew I would have my own software company 🙂 it was just a matter of when, and what I’d do with it.

Since then we’ve made [a project management tool](https://goleko.com/) (my most successful yet) [a website creation service](https://baunit.com/), a screen recording tool, and many many more.

Believe in yourself! You got this!
